I-DEAS Sheet Metal Design is a tool for interactive design and layout ofbrake-formed sheet metal parts. Design engineers can create sheet metalparts in 3-D in the context of related parts in an assembly. Individualpanels of the part are defined and oriented relative to one another alongfold lines. I-DEAS Sheet Metal automatically calculates material growthbased on user-definable bend rules. Since the created model is a solidmodel, the engineer can perform interference checking, mass propertycalculations, hidden line removal, and shaded image creation.
